At first the poor man thought I was crazy but with persistence he slowly gave in. Disgusted with my constant calling he finally offered to give me the recipe for free, but I did not accept. Instead, I insisted to pay for the recipe. The reason, I needed to feel committed. I then looked for a place to bake and found a French Baker who accepted to let me use his facility on a part time basis. Three years into the business, my wife and I decided to manufacture Madeleines. This cookie is the most popular cookie in Europe. I was selling the Croquants, the Teethers and the Madeleines to CoffeeHouses, Gift Stores, Gift Basket companies and some upscale markets. The Teethers are the very best teething biscuits as they do not fall apart, crumble or make a mess. Babies love them and will spend hours with one Teether. Try them and you will be amazed. By the 4th year I told my wife I would try another cookie. The one I had been raised with. She said " Oh no! They are terrible!" When my dad passed away, I went to France. After the funeral, I asked my mother to make me some of "the cookies". She was not in a mood to bake, so she asked me to ask my aunt to show me how to make them. My aunt complied gracefully. This is why her name is on the label as "My Aunt Helene’s recipe". Upon my return, I said to my wife: "Find a name quickly for these cookies because I am designing labels tonight."
She reluctantly said "Well, some are shaped like rocks and some are shaped
like rolls – ROCKS n’ ROLLSTM." Two hours later, from our dinning room
table I designed the labels. Three months later, I had almost given up

Ever since, the Rocks n’ Rolls continue to be ever more popular. We have moved a year ago into our own facility, thanks to them, and they presently are the best selling cookies in upscale markets on the West Coast. We are now in more than 300 supermarkets and have great plans to grow our business to become a household name. |
